Ferry terminal reconstruction, Shore Road landing
Reconstruction of the ferry landing and approach, including dredging of the approach channel. The Nation has identified the shoreline within the project area as sensitive and has asked for a full survey before design is fixed.
The Federal Highway Administration notified the Nation of this undertaking on 22 July. The Tribal Historic Preservation Office responded within the statutory window and requested consulting party status, which has been granted.
The project reconstructs the ferry landing and approach on Shore Road and dredges the approach channel to its original depth.
The Nation’s position. The shoreline within the project area is sensitive. The Nation has asked that a full survey be completed and reviewed before the design is fixed rather than after, and has asked that dredge spoil not be sided anywhere within the estuary.
How to comment. Citizens may comment through the Historic Preservation Office until 19 September. Comments received are summarised for Council and are included in the Nation’s formal response. Comments are not published individually.
